Our team at Fortunate Pooches and Lab Rescue is devastated every time we get a list of dogs and cats on death row who need to be rescued that day or they will be put to death. Imagine seeing pictures of these sweet, innocent and lovable dogs and cats and knowing we just don't have the funds to save them all. For every worthy animal we do save, we are haunted by the many we can't save. Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats).
FPALR takes dogs and cats in of all ages, including seniors. We don't turn animals down even when they have extreme, and expensive, medical needs. Our vet bills are our main, and a massive, expense. We take in dogs and cats with parasites, Lyme disease, mange, heartworm and a variety of other ailments. The animals often come to us neglected and have not had preventative vet care and meds, nor had minor and major medical needs addressed.
We are a foster-based rescue, but when there are animals who will be put down if we don't immediately commit to save them from death row, we will temporarily board those dogs and cats until we have a foster home ready. Boarding is another expense that adds up.
From time to time, we have animals in the rescue who have behavioral issues that we need professional help to address in order to find them a home or keep them in the home they were placed in. Great trainers are invaluable and can help rehabilitate animals with a variety of issues, but that investment in training also runs up big bills.

Help Us Find Workplace Giving Funds
Workplace giving programs allow employees to make regular donations to eligible charities through a payroll system. Employees contribute a set amount per paycheck, or make a one-time gift. Your gift is automatically deducted from payroll, offering both a convenient means of giving and the potential to make an even greater impact by year-round, sustained giving. Some companies match workplace gifts, enabling every donation to have greater impact!
Many workplaces, including private companies, military organizations and the government, coordinate charitable campaigns for their employees in the fall. Ask your organization's human resources department about your corporate giving program. Military and federal employees can give through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The FPALR CFC number is FPALR200351812.
