Leprechaun Larry is still working his magic for FPALR.  The last two "J Team" members have adoptions pending as well as Mickey and Walbash.

SOME SAY THEY ARE "FOSTER FAILURES" WE SAY THEY ARE FOSTER FANTASTIC
Godfrey

Kathy one of our dog walkers during the week, took Godfrey home to foster. He was a newer arrival who was just so confused at the shelter and with what had happened to him that she realized he needed some TLC and more one on one time. Well he found it with her and the family. He has been adopted by this GREAT volunteer.

Brooke is another one of the lucky dogs. She arrived one day and the next day, went home with Kelly one of our monthly Virtual Dog sponsers. One week of loving her and the fact that she just made herself quite at home has given her the forever home she came to FPALR in search of. Now she has that HOME forever

Brooke
To both of you from all of us here,, THANK YOU

WATCH HERE FOR WHERE FPALR WILL BE NEXT

THESE TWO STORIES BELOW ARE THE REASONS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Puppy Mills are in the news just about every week. Rescues are contacted when one is being taken over by ASPCA so temporary housing can be established for these poor animals many of whom have never been out of a crate to touch or smell grass. The adults are bred continously to produce quantity not quality of the dogs.

The picture here is what one of those pups have turned into along with a note from her family.... We, here at FPALR love hearing these stories and can't get enough of them. Makes every minute we spend with the dogs and pups so rewarding. We are in a location where community service is not appreciated, where nearby contacts undermine our mission and our animal control and population control purpose, our organization as an educational tool! This is why we are targeting a new location with new opportunities!

Hi, Here is a picture of Gigi. She was nicknamed Fraggle at your shelter. We adopted her from you in Nov 2008. She is an amazing dog. I have no idea where she learned this, but she hugs. She will greet her favorite people by putting her paws around their waist and squeeze. When I take her to doggy daycare, she will hug the receptionist then run back and hug me before I am allowed to leave. We have a couple of old crates that we no longer use. Do you have a need for these? If you do, please tell me how to donate them.
Gunner was left tied to a door to fend on his own. He could have escaped in traffic, he could have been stollen...anything could have happened! No note, no call, to anyone letting them know there was a dog in need. And our location is not friendly towards rescues we have discovered! Why would anyone just leave their so called loved pet totally defenseless in the cold.. Of course no vet records were left nor was a name. FPALR saved this fella, gave him a safe haven and let him know he was loved. We named him, had him checked by our Vet and started the procedure to find him a new home, one that would never turn their back on him again. We suspect that the previous owners, just turned around and bought a puppy...since Gunner was just toooooooo BIG! Here is the note we received from BIG JAKES'S new forever home. Thank you, John and Dee!

Hi, Just wanted to send you some pics of our lab we got from your rescue group. His name was Gunner, but we now call him "Jake", as in John Wayne "Big Jake". He is doing great. As you can see in the pics, he is enjoying his big back yard and the snow.

John & Dee Pelz

A FOUR LEAF CLOVER IS LUCKY, BUT SO IS FINDING A "FOUR-EVER" HOME

Paco would be great anywhere he went. More the couch potato who could stand to lose a few pounds. Unfortunately he has been over looked since he does not have the labby look ? But there is nothing wrong with Beagles.

We have been rated as one of the best animal shelters in the northern suburbs by our
veterinary clinic and staff, as well as our clients and visitors! Come visit our facility for an organized
scheduled tour, to see the before and after condition of our saved dogs! When they get adopted, they do not
want to leave our excellent care! However, we need to part with them as millions of others need our HELP
! We are NO KILL and we ONLY work with Animal Control Facilities.
Heartworm Positive Dogs - this year alone we have treated 21 HW positive dogs! Please have your dog on the preventative year round! DONATE for our special case dogs!

SPONSOR A DOG. DONATE, DONATE MONTHLY-->
We are always in need of donations, volunteers, and sponsors. Go to Donate/Sponsor to sponsor a dog. Our vet bills are very high and we have no sponsors or help from any foundations such as the large pet store foundations or charities! Grants are usually not approved for no-kill rescues or shelters; only the animal control facilities, and the kill shelters/humane societies! Please research to whom you donate!

We are in need of the following items for our new semi-cageless shelter:
new wire crates, doggy beds, doggy treats, and stainless steel rubbish containers.

Sponsor a crate, a dog, or a room and make a difference today!
Four rooms are available. Each room will be dedicated to the sponsor family or business and their name will be permanently placed on each room.  Crate donations range from $100 - $500.
