Boycott of Products from China Urged in Response
to Mass Slaughter of Dogs

Authorities in China have brutally killed tens of thousands of dogs in response to a recent rabies outbreak, and last week ordered the destruction of an additional 500,000 dogs.

In a 5-day mass slaughter in Mouding County in the southwestern province of Yunnan the end of July, an estimated 50,000 dogs were destroyed – including some 4,000 who had been immunized against rabies – with only military and police dogs spared. According to reports in Chinese newspapers, teams led by the county police chief seized dogs being walked from their owners and clubbed them to death on the spot, with others being electrocuted, poisoned, or otherwise subjected to a slow and painful death.

Two weeks ago in Dongling in northern Shandong province, teams reportedly beat dogs to death with pitchforks and wooden poles, then trucked away the bodies.

China, which has no laws to prevent cruelty to animals, has a long history of abuse.

Please boycott products from China as a protest to this brutal massacre of innocent animals, and urge your friends and family to do so as well.

In addition to boycotting Chinese goods, please express your outrage at the slaughter and demand that China enact laws preventing cruelty to animals by contacting Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong at the Chinese Embassy:
